SIMS v5.1 Beta 3 (Front End Upgrade) for Access 2002-2007
*********************************************************************************** * * * * * * * Squadron Information Management System (SIMS) * * * * * * * *********************************************************************************** Version 5.1 beta 3 (Front End Upgrade) The Squadron Information Management System (SIMS) is a Microsoft Access database application that provides Civil Air Patrol units with a tool that will help better manage and administer various aspects of unit operations, including: * Personnel records administration * Cadet and Senior program management * Unit meetings * CAPWATCH reporting * Unit-level Emergency Services Training Tracking * Mailing lists * Export data to Excel A complete list of features may be found in the SIMS Features.doc Word document distributed as a part of the software download pacakge. ******************************************************* I M P O R T A N T ***************************************************** This version of SIMS replaces only the application files. You should already be running version 4.2 or later of the SIMS application to use this version of SIMS. Please backup the following files to another folder on your local computer before continuing. SIMS.mdb SIMS Back End.mdb SIMS Reference Data.mdb Note: SIMS this version of SIMS is compatible with Access 2002-2007 format and will not run under Access 2000 or earlier versions. ***************************************************** Installation Instructions: ***************************************************** 1. Download and/or open the SIMS_ver_51_beta_3_(Front_End_Upgrade)_Access_2002_2007.exe from the following website: http://SquadronCommand.com (downloads link) 2. The SIMS_ver_51_beta_3_(Front_End_Upgrade)_Access_2002_2007.exe is a self extracting archive that will install itself in the C:\SIMS folder on your local computer. 3. Once installed, launch SIMS by double-clicking on the SIMS.mdb file in the C:\SIMS folder. ***************************************************** NOTES: ******************************************************* All of the SIMS default graphics files are contained in the self extracting archive file SIMS_Patch_Graphics.exe. You can extract these files into the C:\SIMS\Graphics folder by double-clicking on this file. You may customize the interface with your own squadron patch by replacing the following graphics files in the C:\SIMS\Graphics folder: Squadron Patch Small.wmf (83 x 83 pixels) Squadron Patch Med.wmf (124 x 124 pixels) Squadron Patch Large.wmf (166 x 166 pixels) SIMS Also supports other graphic formats such as .jpg, .gif, and .bmp. If you don't have a graphics program, or you don't know how to create .wmf format files using a graphics program such as PaintShop Pro, you can send a copy of your squadron's patch in any type of graphics file format to the author at: BlueMesa149@msn.com and he will convert it and email you the three files needed for the application. SIMS can be used in a networked environment.
